Aviation Systems Division researchers were once again prominent participants in outreach presentations. The NASA Aeronautics Research Institute's summer lecture series included presentations from five Aviation Systems Division presenters, including Steve Beard, “Simulation System Fidelity Assessment at the VMS,” Harry Swenson, “Overview of NASA's Next Generation Air Transportation System Airspace Research,” Dr. Banavar Sridhar, “Impact of Air Traffic Operations on the Environment,” Bimal Aponso, “NASA Ames Vertical Motion Simulator – A Facility Engineered for Realism,” and Dr. Shon Grabbe, “Traffic Flow Management Overview and Challenges.”
Dr. Banavar Sridhar also presented at the Ames Distinguished Employee Lecture series on “Decision Making in Aviation Operations.”
Dr. Todd Lauderdale presented at the 2013 Director's Colloquium Summer Series on “Flight Control: Automating Air Travel.”
Aviation Systems Division staff participated in the annual Palo Alto Airport Day in September 2013, and fielded questions from the general public about aviation and NASA's research.
