ATM-X Project’s Strategic Conflict Management Simulation (X4) Partners Complete Connectivity Testing with an Airspace Authorization Service (Sprint #4)
February 8, 2022
On February 2, 2022, the Air Traffic Management Exploration (ATM-X) Project’s Urban Air Mobility (UAM) Subproject successfully completed another step towards developing a Provider of Services for UAM (PSU) while leading seven airspace partners in developing their PSU, five of which will partner with Wisk Aero in the National Campaign 1 (NC-1) flight tests. All seven partners (ANRA, Avision, Collins, Metron/Airbus, OneSky, SkyGrid, and Unmanned Experts) and NASA successfully completed connectivity tests to a NASA-built prototype of an FAA-Industry Data Exchange Protocol (FIDXP) Airspace Authorization service. Participants generated an operation plan that conformed to the requirements of the defined airspace and provided the operation plan to an Airspace Authorization service during the test. This was the fourth Sprint test in a series of X4 simulation tests aimed to prepare the airspace partners and the NASA PSU for inclusion in the NC-1 flight test. Sprint #5 exercises Demand Capacity Balancing (DCB) imbalance detection and resolution with the window opening for testing on February 28, 2022, with an expected end date of April 1, 2022. The series of sprints within the scenarios are used to validate features that will be used in a collaborative scenario simulation with the partners that is scheduled to run from April–June 2022.
