Dr. Parimal Kopardekar Keynote at New Zealand UAV Industry Conference

Dr. Parimal Kopardekar, NASA Ames Senior Technologist for Air Transportation Systems, gave an invited keynote address at the Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) New Zealand Conference, Auckland, New Zealand, February 13-14, 2017. The conference goal was to share knowledge on New Zealand's UAV eco-system. Three hundred international participants attended the conference, who also heard speakers representing the United Nations, the Auckland University of Technology, Airways New Zealand (the air navigation service provider), the New Zealand Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), the Singapore Nanyang Technological University, Facebook, and the New Zealand Ministry of Transportation. The UAV community in New Zealand expressed interest in initiating NASA's UAS Traffic Management (UTM)-type construct, including the NASA-Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)-Industry collaboration model applied to universities, the international UAV industry, Airways New Zealand, and the New Zealand CAA.
