Aviation Systems Division researchers met and gave presentations to visitors from Eurocontrol, on September 16-17, 2013. Division researchers presented Airspace Systems Program supported work on the Air Traffic Management Technology Demonstration–1 (ATD-1), Dynamic Weather Routes, Airport Surface Research, Precision Departure Release Capability, and Single Pilot Operations. The Eurcontrol personnel also provided overviews of their research and development emphases. Discussions were held on sharing of data and investigating future areas for collaboration. Ms. Sharon Kurywchak, Group Manager for Operational Concepts at the FAA's Air Traffic Organization, visited NASA Ames Research Center September 18-19, 2013, and met with several research groups supporting the Airspace Systems Program. Briefings and demonstrations were provided covering NASA's airport surface research (including a demonstration in Ames' FutureFlight Central tower cab simulator), digital traffic management and machine learning, dynamic weather routes, terminal tactical separation-assured flight environment (T-TSAFE) and terminal sequencing and spacing (TSS) as part of an integrated ATM Technology Demonstration-1 (ATD-1) shakedown simulation.
