Dr. Yoon Jung
Dr. Yoon Jung is currently associate principal investigator of the NextGen Concepts and Technology Development Project under NASA's Airspace Systems Program. He joined NASA in 1998 and has been involved in various terminal airspace ATM research projects. Dr. Jung led the project to integrate the Surface Management System (SMS) with the Traffic Management Advisor (TMA) to improve the prediction accuracy of surface events. Currently, Dr. Jung is leading the research to develop surface automation technologies for the NextGen trajectory-based surface operations using various optimization scheduling algorithms and trajectory models. Dr. Jung is also leading the effort to develop prototype decision support tools for air traffic control tower personnel to enhance efficiency and reduce environmental impacts of surface operations at the nation's busy airports. Before NASA, he worked as a senior engineer at Advanced Rotorcraft Technology in Mountain View, California. He earned his B.S. and M.S. degrees from Seoul National University and a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from University of California, Davis. |
