Todd Farley
Todd Farley is Chief of the Flight Trajectory Dynamics & Controls Branch in the Aviation Systems Division at NASA Ames. His work has included applied research and field work, technical management, and assignments at the Joint Planning & Development Office (JPDO) for the Next-Generation Air Transportation System and at NASA's Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate (ARMD) in Washington, DC. He has written 19 technical publications in the field of air traffic management automation and human factors, two of which were distinguished as best in conference. Mr. Farley has also been recognized with the NASA Aeronautics Technical Excellence in Publications Award, the NASA Exceptional Achievement Medal, and the NASA Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate (ARMD) agency-wide award for Leadership and Management Excellence. Before coming to Ames, Todd was a systems engineer at Honeywell Commercial Aviation Systems in Phoenix, where he performed system design, development, flight testing and certification of windshear detection and guidance systems. He holds a Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Duke University, a Master's degree in Aeronautics and Astronautics from MIT, and a private-pilot rating. Todd is an Associate Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), for which he served as chair of the Air Transportation Systems Technical Committee, chair of the local San Francisco Section, and Technical Chair of the Aviation Technology, Integration and Operations (ATIO) Conference. For his contributions, the AIAA honored him with the Sustained Service Award. His lifetime record as manager of the Aviation Systems Division’s softball team is 5-74. He lives in San Jose with his wife, Betsy, and children Drew and Caroline.
