2015 NASA Honor Awards

The honorees received their awards at a special ceremony on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at Ames Research Center, presented by Astronaut Scott Altman and Tom Edwards, Ames Deputy Center Director



Astronaut Scott Altman and Ames Deputy Center Director Tom Edwards present Karen Deguzman with her award.
Karen E. Deguzman received an Exceptional Service Medal “for exceptional, substantial, and sustained contributions to NASA's core missions as an innovative leader in financial and workforce management.”




Astronaut Scott Altman and Ames Deputy Center Director Tom Edwards present Bosco Dias with his award.
Bosco J. Dias received an Exceptional Public Achievement Medal “for exceptional improvements to the Advanced Concepts Flight Simulator (ACFS) at the Crew Vehicle Systems Research Facility.”




Astronaut Scott Altman and Ames Deputy Center Director Tom Edwards present Dave McNally with the award on behalf of the Dynamic Weather Routes team.
The Dynamic Weather Routes Team received a group achievement award “for developing a ground-based trajectory automation system that will help U.S. airlines reduce delays due to severe weather.”

The team included representatives from NASA Ames Research Center (Paul F. Borchers, William N. Chan, Chester Gong, David McNally, Kapil S. The Spot and Runway Departure Advisor Team received a group achievement award “for outstanding service and contributions supporting simulations and fielding for surface research at NASA Ames Research Center.”

The UAS Traffic Management (UTM) Workshop Team received a group achievement award “for exceptional planning of the UTM Workshop that attracted future partners and media interest in NASA's vanguard effort to integrate UTM in the civilian airspace.”

The Vertical Motion Simulator Mechanical Shop received a group achievement award “for technical excellence in detecting, analyzing, and repairing the VMS Lateral Pinion Bearing, preventing loss of experiments and further damage.”

The team included representatives from Science Applications International Corp. (Peter Chaplin, Bruce Felt, Steve Fletcher, Phillip Jensen, Minh Wong)
