Excess In-Trail Separations This graphic compares the excess in-trail separations at the Outer Marker of the current operation and passive FAST during the 11:30 am rush. Under IFR conditions, the excess in-trail separation of the current operation ranged from 0.2 to 4.2 naultical miles with a mean of 2.2 nautical miles. Under the same conditions, the excess in-trail separation of passive FAST ranged from 0.25 to 3.15 nautical miles with a mean of 1.7 nautical miles. Under VFR conditions, the excess in-trail separation of the current operation ranged from -0.4 to 4.0 nautical miles with a mean of 1.8 nautical miles. Under the same conditions, the excess in-trail separation of passive FAST ranged from 0.0 to 3.0 nautical miles with a mean of 1.5 nautical miles.
